Energy Audit
An Enersolve Home Energy Audit takes between 1-2 hours to complete. The audit begins with a brief discussion about your home. Please feel free to mention any existing energy, ventilation or condensation issues as well as your energy efficiency goals (if any). Next the auditor will thoroughly inspect your home assessing the doors, windows, mechanical systems, ducts, lighting, attic insulation, etc.
We will then install a powerful fan called a blower door to an exterior door to test the air tightness of your home. Our calibrated blower door creates a vacuum of negative pressure through your home and pulls out air, in turn lowering the inside air pressure. The higher outside air pressure then flows into the house through unsealed cracks and openings in the building envelope. The blower door test measures the rate at which air re-enters your home. This test is also used to measure moisture condensation issues and indoor air quality.
Once the energy audit is complete, the auditor can give you an on-the-spot general idea of how your home runs as a system. Within one week, you will be provided with a detailed but easy to understand energy audit report. This report will explain our suggested improvements prioritized by benefit and cost, resources on how to upgrade, and cost savings estimates. With your audit in hand, you will be well armed to approach your specific areas of improvement whether you are into DIY, contracting the work yourself or hiring us to contract the work on your behalf.
